No, satellite imagery is not really ‘real-time’. Though satellite sensors are sophisticated devices designed to provide excellent photos of earth, they just cannot be converted into a HD camera transmitting real-time feeds. Reason is simple, one image from a high resolution sensor like GeoEye-1 is more than 1 GB. An average video contains 25 frames/ second. So one second of video will cost more than 25 GB space. This is not the only hurdle, acquiring each image or frame itself requires several seconds to complete and combined with motion of the satellite the 1 second video will end at some few hundred miles from where it started.

No, free sample data are available only from some areas. Although from these data you can easily interpret your AOI (Area of Interest).

There are three types of Task available for customer i.e. Automatic Tasking, Tailored Tasking and Instant Tasking. Automatic Tasking is available for small AOI (max. 20 km east-west by 40 km north-south), with 15% cloud cover. Tailored Tasking is available for more complex area with reduced cloud cover, limited viewing angle, Stereo, Tristereo etc. In case of emergency Instant Tasking is available. The customer goes to www.geostore.com, enters their Area of Interest (limited to a 20 x 20 km zone) and chooses the next satellites passes. The customer’s request is transmitted directly to the satellite with a maximum priority level.

Its depends on AOI, customer can get image with cloud cover less than 15%, 10% or 5% and Cloud cover does not include cloud shadow and semi-transparency haze. Cloud-free zones i.e. 2 x 2 km. may available but it depends on availability and climatic condition of that time.

It is the combination of The Panchromatic image which includes only black & white band (0.5 m) and Multispectral image which includes 4 bands i.e. Blue, Red, Green and Near Infrared (2 m) products. They are not merged but they are packed together for a single delivery, so it includes 1 file for Multispectral + 1 file for Panchromatic.

Pan-sharpened image is a fusion of visual and spatial information provided by Multispectral and Panchromatic image respectively, which results in a higher resolution 0.5m. It uses Blue, Green, Red and Near Infrared bands as an input to produce a very high-resolution natural or false color image, which can be used to extract many features.

It is available in two different processing levels: Primary and Ortho. The Primary product is the processing level closest to the natural image acquired by the sensor. The Ortho product is a georeferenced image in Earth geometry, corrected from acquisition and terrain off nadir effects. The Ortho is produced as a standard, with fully automatic processing.

Image may be in JPEG 2000 (with compression)or in GeoTIFF (without compression) format.
